Why is vision training important?

Many people think that eyesight and vision are synonymous. However, they are not. Eyesight is what you see, but vision is what you do with what you see. The eyes are a direct extension of the brain and are responsible for nearly 90% of the information processed during a lifetime. Because vision is the body's central navigational system, improving the eyes' ability to aim, track, focus, and work together as a team substantially impacts performance on every level. From reading and learning, to how well you perform on the job, on the playing field, and in your everyday life, how you "see" holds the key to your maximum potential.

The Vanguard Vision Training Center is equipped with technology and software designed to train important visual and cognitive traits such as: reaction time, eye-hand coordination, contrast sensitivity, depth perception, peripheral awareness, dynamic visual acuity, go/no-go, balance, focus, split attention, visual-motor integration, near far shift, response inhibition, spatial sequencing, spatial memory, and multiple object tracking.

Applications

Sports

How well an athlete performs is directly related to how well they perceive visual information. More than 80% of stimulus input while playing a sport is visual nature – yet the eyes and brain are critically undertrained. The sports vision training program at Vanguard VTC is designed to train the visual and cognitive skills needed to reach peak performance. Research has proven that incorporating vision training into traditional workout regimens has increased athletic performance in sports such as baseball, softball, football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, cheerleading, boxing, racing, hockey, and more. The quickest way to reach your peak level of performance is through vision training.

Tactical

Vigorous vision training programs are being utilized worldwide by numerous special forces groups, national militaries, and law enforcement organizations to equip combat personnel w/ the cognitive skills necessary to perform under pressure. The cutting-edge equipment at Vanguard VTC is structured to measure and track the attributes that are integral to the physically demanding tasks associated w/ tactical occupations.

In a recent study conducted by the Maui County Police Department, results demonstrated significant improvements in visual attention, speed & span of recognition, and marksmanship following several sessions of vision training. Additionally, police recruit trainers noticed visible improvements in speed, accuracy, and appropriateness of physical response.

Medical

The eyes are the window to the brain. We rely on the visual system as a key player in a holistic approach to understanding and healing the body.

Innovative technologies continue to transform lives, push boundaries, and change the way we see and respond to the world.
